Riyadh: The Environment Fund concluded the "Green Factory" initiative today, implemented in cooperation with the National Center for Environmental Compliance, the Chambers of Commerce in Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, and Yanbu, and the Saudi Industrial Exporters Association.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the initiative exceeded its targets, with the number of participating factories increasing from the targeted 50 to 70 across various regions of the Kingdom. The number of trainees also surpassed the target of 300, reaching more than 500 factory employees. The training program focused on sustainability practices and prepared participating facilities to pursue ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification.
The initiative sought to enable industrial facilities to comply with environmental standards and requirements, raise environmental compliance rates, promote sustainable practices, and enhance the competitiveness of Saudi factories in international markets, thereby expanding their economic opportunities.
The initiative was implemented under the incentives and grants program, which seeks to encourage environmentally responsible practices among individuals and institutions, support research, innovation and development, stimulate investment, and advance environmental protection plans, activities and initiatives in the Kingdom. It also contributes to achieving the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in the environmental sector.
