Environment Minister Launches Environment Week 2026 in Riyadh

Riyadh: Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley inaugurated Saudi Environment Week 2026 today in Riyadh. Held under the slogan 'Green Impact,' the event coincides with the launch of various programs across the Kingdom aimed at reinforcing the importance of participation from all segments of society, government entities, and the private and non-profit sectors in preserving the environment.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Dr. Osama Faqeeha stated that environmental protection is a fundamental pillar of sustainable development, with certain sectors relying on it to support the economy and improve individual well-being. He affirmed that the Kingdom has achieved a qualitative transformation in environmental protection, marked by more than a fourfold expansion of protected areas and a more than threefold increase in waste recycling rates.

Last year witnessed a notable environmental achievement, including the rehabilitation of more than one million hectares of degraded land and the planting of around 159 million trees using renewable water sources.
