Riyadh: The field patrols of the Special Forces for Environmental Security, while carrying out their duties to enforce environmental regulations in Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve, apprehended two citizens for hunting without a license. They were found in possession of an air rifle and 15 hunted wildlife. They were detained, legal procedures were initiated against them, and they were referred to the competent authorities.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Special Forces for Environmental Security emphasized the importance of complying with environmental regulations and their implementing bylaws, which prohibit the hunting of wildlife, adding that hunting without a license is punishable by a fine of SAR10,000, while hunting in prohibited areas carries a fine of SAR5,000. Hunting the common warbler without a license is also punishable by a SAR5,000 fine.
The forces urged the public to report environmental and wildlife violations by calling 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, and 999 or 996 in other regions of Saudi Arabia. Reports are treated with complete confidentiality, with no liability incurred by the reporter.
