Jeddah: The first flight carrying pilgrims from the Maldives under the Makkah Route Initiative for Hajj 1447 AH arrived today from Velana International Airport in Mal© at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. The arrival marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to streamline and enhance the pilgrimage experience for Muslims worldwide.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Makkah Route Initiative is designed to offer efficient services to pilgrims from participating countries. The initiative begins with biometric enrollment and the electronic issuance of Hajj visas. Following this, passport procedures are completed at the departure airport, ensuring compliance with health requirements.
The initiative also involves the coding and sorting of luggage, aligning with transportation and accommodation plans in Saudi Arabia. This process allows pilgrims to head directly to designated buses that will transport them to their accommodation in Makkah and Madinah. Meanwhile, partner entities ensure that their luggage reaches the destination safely.
The Ministry of Interior has been implementing this initiative for eight consecutive years, collaborating with various ministries and relevant authorities to enhance the pilgrimage experience for all involved.
