Foreign Minister Chairs High-Level Ministerial Meeting of Global Alliance for Implementation of Two-State Solution

New york: Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah chaired on Wednesday, in partnership with the European Union and the Kingdom of Norway, the High-Level Ministerial Meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held on the margins of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Prince Faisal opened the meeting by stating the significance of the alliance, which was launched a year ago in collaboration with the European Union and the Kingdom of Norway. This meeting comes shortly after the General Assembly's adoption of the New York Declaration, which represents a historic international consensus to end the occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state.

Prince Faisal emphasized the importance of transforming this consensus into actionable commitments and follow-up mechanisms, urging that statements must lead to real action to address the occupation and its aggression. He highlighted the outcome of a recent Peace Summit, co-chaired by the Kingdom and France, which led to widespread recognition of the State of Palestine and bolstered international support for Palestinian self-determination.

He also pointed out the ongoing escalation of occupation into violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites and assaults on the sovereignty of Arab states, including a recent incident targeting the State of Qatar. The meeting's goal is to coordinate efforts, establish mechanisms, define progress indicators, and ensure accountability, continuing joint work in various capitals worldwide.

Prince Faisal reiterated the New York Declaration's affirmation that Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, form one indivisible Palestinian territory, rejecting any annexation, settlement expansion, or forced displacement attempts. He stressed the necessity of empowering the Palestinian Authority, supporting recovery and reconstruction plans, and establishing an international accountability mechanism with clear timelines.

He reaffirmed the Kingdom's commitment to leading diplomatic and humanitarian efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, aiming for a just and lasting peace and shared prosperity for the region.

The meeting saw attendance from several notable figures, including Saudi Ambassador to the US Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil, and Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Manal Radwan.
