GCA President Leads INTOSAI Meetings with World Bank in Washington

Washington:President of the General Court of Audit (GCA), Dr. Hussam Alangari, chaired the 23rd meeting of the Policy, Finance, and Administration Committee (PFAC) of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and the 19th meeting of the INTOSAI Donor Steering Committee (IDSC) at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C. According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Alangari opened the Donor Steering Committee meeting by highlighting the Committee's achievements in empowering Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) and enhancing their independence. He stressed the need for continued collaboration between INTOSAI, led by GCA, and the donor community, represented by the World Bank, to support SAIs in developing countries. Discussions included the strategic direction of the Committee and updates on the Global SAI Accountability Initiative (GSAI) and the Global SAI Independence Project. The following day, Dr. Alangari commenced the PFAC meeting, emphasizing support for the INTOSAI community, promoting transparency across SAIs. Attendees included heads of peer member SAIs from several countries, such as the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, and others. Key agenda items discussed were the General Secretariat's financial report, GCA's achievements, and updates from INTOSAI's strategic goal Chairs. The meeting also included reviews from various committees, including the Professional Standards Committee, Capacity Building Committee, Knowledge Sharing Committee, Policy Committee on Emerging Issues, and the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI). The GCA's leadership of these INTOSAI committees underscores its influential role and Saudi Arabia's significant global presence in audit and accounting.
