GCC Secretary General and Canadian Foreign Minister Discuss Iranian Attacks

Riyadh: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi received Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh. The meeting focused on the Iranian attacks targeting GCC member states and the resulting escalation threatening regional and international security and stability.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the GCC secretary general strongly condemned these assaults, emphasizing that they violate the sovereignty of GCC member states and breach international law and norms. He called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urged Iran to comply with UN Resolution 2817, while expressing gratitude to Canada for its support.

Canada's Foreign Minister reiterated her country's support for the GCC in countering the Iranian attacks and stressed the importance of halting these assaults. She also highlighted the need for Iran to ensure the Strait of Hormuz remains open to regional and global supply chains.

The meeting concluded with discussions on enhancing cooperation through a joint action plan between the GCC and Canada, as well as exploring proposals to boost trade and investment relations, benefiting both parties.
