GCC Secretary-General Praises Human Resources Development Strategy

Manama:Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Albudaiwi, emphasized the significance of the Civil Service and Human Resources Development Strategy Action Plan for 2026-2030. This plan, with its included initiatives, is expected to enhance the achievements in civil service and human resources development within the GCC.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi acknowledged the progress made in this domain due to the efforts and guidance from the members of the Ministers and Heads of Civil Service Committee. His remarks were made during the 22nd meeting of the GCC Ministers and Heads of Civil Service Committee in Manama, chaired by Shaikh Duaij bin Salman bin Duaij Al Khalifa, with participation from ministers and civil service heads from GCC states.

He highlighted key accomplishments, such as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with companies specializing in human resources databases, which remains active, allowing member states to leverage its benefits. Reports from member states have shown significant advantages from this MoU, including achieving favorable prices and terms, demonstrating the power of collective negotiation.

The secretary-general noted that over 25,000 GCC citizens are employed in other member states, with about 11,500 in government roles. Additionally, approximately 13,800 GCC citizens have benefited from the insurance protection extension system. These figures illustrate progress in GCC integration in civil service, offering employment and mobility opportunities while promoting equal treatment among citizens.

Albudaiwi concluded by commending the GCC states' efforts to improve government employee efficiency, equipping them with advanced technology and artificial intelligence to fulfill their duties effectively.
