Riyadh: The General Authority of Media Regulation is participating in Saudi Film Confex 2025, running until October 25 in Riyadh, highlighting its efforts to regulate and empower the film and television series sector in the Kingdom and foster a media environment that supports national creativity while keeping pace with global developments in the cinema industry.
According to Saudi Press Agency, through its pavilion at the confex, the authority is presenting an overview of the film and series licensing mechanisms and the approved age classification standards in the Kingdom, which enable audiences and families to choose content suitable for each age group. It is showcasing its initiatives to empower the local film industry.
The authority also announced new indicators reflecting the sector's growth, noting that more than 350 films were licensed and classified in 2025, including 70 Saudi films. Since 2018, over 3,000 films have been licensed and classified, among them more than 180 Saudi films - underscoring the authority's pivotal role in supporting local production and enabling its reach to audiences.
The confex serves as a platform that brings together filmmakers and stakeholders involved in developing the sector, aiming to highlight the cultural and economic role of the film industry through specialized sessions, workshops, and an exhibition featuring local and international companies and government entities.
