Riyadh: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres reaffirmed that "the exercise of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people is about the right of Palestinians to simply live as human beings in their own land," emphasizing that the two-state solution is the only viable path to achieving a lasting peace.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during his address at the annual meeting of the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, held yesterday at the UN Headquarters in New York, Guterres stressed the importance of adhering to international law and preventing any escalation that could further complicate the crisis. "It is essential to avoid any form of ethnic cleansing," he added.
The secretary-general emphasized that the United Nations continues its tireless efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians in need. He urged donors and the international community to fully fund humanitarian operations and called on member states to support UNRWA's essential work.
