Human Rights Group Denounces Houthi Attacks on Saudi Civil Aviation

Tunis:The National Society for Human Rights has issued a strong condemnation of the recent attacks by the Houthi militia on Saudi Arabia, specifically targeting civil aviation facilities.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the society emphasized that these attacks violate international law, particularly the rules protecting civilians and civilian objects. The attacks contravene the prohibition against targeting civilians, the principle of distinguishing between military and civilian targets, and the necessity of taking precautions to avoid civilian harm.

The society highlighted the 1988 Montreal Protocol, which criminalizes intentional acts of violence at airports serving international civil aviation. This includes attacks that aim to injure or kill people, destroy airport facilities, cause significant damage, or disrupt services.

The organization has urged the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to take responsibility for enforcing relevant international resolutions concerning Yemen, advocating for effective international measures to address the situation.
