Independent MP Kadhim Al-Fayyad confirmed that hundreds of halted factories and plants need political will to restart them.
He told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA /: There are internal and external political reasons that prevent the return of these factories and plants to work in light of the desire to make Iraq a consumer, non-productive country that depends on the single revenue.
Al-Fayyad added: Although most of these factories and plants need huge amounts of money to rehabilitate them, there are those who prevent them from being offered for investment, since the country is in dire need of additional revenues instead of oil, whose prices are subject to change from time to time.
