Industry in Jazan Region Holds Promising Prospects

Jizan, The industrial sector is one of the most important in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia due to its significant share to non-oil contribution to the GDP, for providing job opportunities, improving resource utilization and services, increasing export rates, helping achieve integration with other economic sectors, and attracting local and foreign investments and thus aiding to achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. The industrial sector in Jazan region has been witnessing growth, thanks to the wise leadership's support and development of this sector and the region by providing the necessary infrastructure and logistical services, and creating industrial cities, which helped increase the competitiveness of this important sector. The region has all the elements necessary for industry to boom, including capital, energy, local and neighboring markets, raw materials, and support and incentives such as loans, provided by the Saudi Industrial Development Fund, of up to 75% of the capital and an interest-free repaym ent period of up to 20 years. According to the Jazan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the total industrial investment in the region exceeded SAR71.460 billion. There are 193 existing factories, 52 under construction, and 80 mining licenses, the region owns three industrial cities and two seaports, one of which is the newest and largest-capacity industrial port. Workers in the manufacturing sector in the region exceeds 13,000. The Jazan City for Primary and Downstream Industries, the most prominent of the southern region's industrial sector, covers an area of 266 square kilometers; it has a strategic location, which makes it a major logistics center with easy access to the Red Sea through the "Belt and Road Initiative". The city's proximity to the African market enables provision of sustainable jobs to the residents of the region, as well as to Saudis in general. Jazan Industrial City is equipped with all requirements that help industry flourish, including electricity, water, and buildings. It is consider ed a special economic zone offering tax exemptions, investment facilities, agricultural and mining materials, and advanced logistical services. It has been leased to industrial project owners at symbolic rents. There is also the Jazan Special Economic Zone, which is an advanced industrial city and an ideal center for business growth at a distinguished location on the Red Sea coast, close to the growing African markets. It is an important platform for Saudi-Chinese investment. In addition to its strategic location, the Jazan region also enjoys plenty of natural resources, including islands and beautiful mountains.
