Innovative Technology Speeds Up Cardiac Diagnosis During Hajj Season

Makkah: The healthcare system's preparations, through King Abdullah Medical City in Makkah-a member of the Makkah Health Cluster-have contributed to a qualitative leap in digital health services with the official launch of the "i-Selfie" project. The first of its kind in the Kingdom, the project enables contactless electrocardiogram (ECG) screening and vital signs monitoring using artificial-intelligence (AI) technologies.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the project represents an advanced step in preventive care and instant diagnosis, enabling accurate examinations within seconds. These include ECG, heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen level, respiratory rate, and body temperature, all performed without traditional medical devices or contact-based tools, contributing to faster procedures and improved response quality.

The implementation of this advanced technology comes as part of the medical city's preparedness plan for the Hajj season. It has been activated at triage points and urgent cardiac care units, which typically handle high volumes of critical cases. The move aims to accelerate diagnosis and enhance the efficiency of emergency response, particularly for cardiac conditions.

The project marks a significant step in King Abdullah Medical City's strategic direction toward adopting smart solutions and enhancing performance efficiency. It aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in the health sector, particularly in areas of digital transformation, quality of life, and sustainability driven by innovation and technology.
