Inspection Efforts Continue to Protect Marine Resources in Makkah Region

Riyadh: The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture's branch in Makkah Region, in cooperation with the Border Guard, conducted 80 inspection tours at fishing ports in Jeddah Governorate during the past months of June and July, covering eight ports. The tours, which included 582 boats, resulted in the detection of 26 violators, including 20 Saudi citizens and six individuals of different nationalities. The violations included the use of illegal fishing equipment, such as fishing traps, guns, and nylon nets. Legal procedures were taken against the violators.

According to Saudi Press Agency, these initiatives are part of the branch's ongoing efforts to strengthen oversight of fishing facilities, support sustainable practices, and preserve marine resources along the coasts of Makkah Region.
