Riyadh:The Ministry of Interior has taken significant steps in advancing Saudi Vision 2030 by supporting the localization of the national military industries sector. This strategic initiative aims to localize over 50% of military spending by 2030, thereby bolstering Saudi Arabia's military readiness and strategic autonomy.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Ministry of Interior has established an executive office dedicated to military industry localization. This office plays a crucial role in achieving the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, the National Transformation Program (NTP), and the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP). Efforts are centered on localizing expenditure on military and security equipment, systems, and maintenance, thereby contributing to the national economy and GDP.
In recent years, the Ministry has made strides in three main areas strategic, legislative and regulatory, and technical. By developing a comprehensive strategy and plan, the Ministry has localized procurement of security and military equipment across various fields. This has led to contracts with national companies for the manufacture, supply, and maintenance of essential military systems, including armored vehicles, maritime and aerial platforms, command and control systems, and unmanned aircraft systems.
The Ministry's achievements in supporting military industry localization were acknowledged in 2025 when it received two Military Industry Localization Excellence Awards from the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI). These awards recognized its excellence in planning and implementation among military and security entities, marking it as the first to achieve both accolades.
In 2026, the Ministry was further honored with an award for its role in qualifying a local security technology product, supporting its development from research to finalization. The Ministry continues to enhance its security capabilities through advanced defense technologies and innovations in artificial intelligence, security vehicles, and more, reinforcing Saudi Arabia's leadership in global security indicators.
