IsDB Signs Agreement to Develop Djibouti’s Healthcare System

Djibouti: The Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB) yesterday signed a financing agreement to establish Djibouti's first national oncology center. The agreement was signed in the presence of IsDB Chairman Muhammad Al Jasser and Djiboutian Minister of Economy and Finance Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh.

According to Saudi Press Agency, under the project agreement, financing amounting to $26.10 million will be provided to establish Djibouti's first national oncology center, with a total project cost of $28.35 million. The project addresses a critical healthcare gap by enabling the diagnosis and treatment of cancer locally, reducing reliance on treatment abroad.

The center will provide local diagnostic and treatment services, serving 6,000 outpatients and 1,200 inpatients annually, while easing the financial and logistical burden on families and strengthening local medical capacities.

The agreement underscores IsDB's commitment to high-impact, transformative financing that advances social and economic progress, supports member countries' development priorities, and delivers sustainable, measurable outcomes.
