Riyadh: Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance and General Supervisor of Local and International Quranic Competitions Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh launched the new phase and regulatory guide for the 46th edition of the King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Holy Quran. The competition will be held from Safar 23 to Rabi' Al-Awwal 6, 1448 AH. This year's edition has set a record with 334 male and female contestants from 133 countries, marking the highest participation since the competition's inception.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the competition aims to encourage Muslim men and women to engage with the Holy Quran through memorization and comprehension, foster fair competition among Quran memorizers, and strengthen the younger generation's connection to the Holy Quran. Additionally, the event highlights Saudi Arabia's leading role and efforts in serving and promoting the teachings of the Holy Quran.
Reflecting the competition's continued growth, this edition boasts the largest prize pool since its launch, totaling SAR10,260,000. The competition is divided into five categories, including memorizing the entire Holy Quran according to seven recitations, memorizing the entire Holy Quran with interpretation, memorizing the entire Holy Quran, memorizing 15 parts, and memorizing five consecutive parts.
