Riyadh: The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), in collaboration with the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), has successfully wrapped up a program focused on the conceptual foundations and emerging challenges in preventing and countering violent extremism. The event took place at its headquarters in Riyadh, attended by IMCTC Secretary-General Major General Pilot Mohammed Al-Moghedi and representatives from member states.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this program is part of efforts to enhance the partnership between the IMCTC and the United Kingdom while strengthening cooperation with specialized international institutions. This initiative aims to develop the capabilities of representatives from member states and improve their readiness to tackle rapidly changing patterns, methods of dissemination, and financing of extremism.
IMCTC Secretary-General highlighted that investing in building the capacities of representatives from member states and sharing expertise with specialized international institutions are crucial for developing more effective and sustainable responses to extremism and terrorism.
The program covered topics such as the conceptual foundations and drivers of extremism, the exploitation of digital platforms by extremist groups, patterns of terrorist financing, risks associated with virtual assets, pathways for disengagement, rehabilitation, reintegration, and the role of strategic communication in countering extremist narratives.
