Islamic University’s ‘Misbar’ Team Secures Top Spot in Industrial Hackathon 2025 Automation Track

Madinah: The Misbar team from the Islamic University of Madinah has clinched first place in the Automation Track of the Industrial Hackathon 2025. Organized by the Saudi Industrial Development Fund, the fourth edition of this competition convened a notable assembly of innovators and specialists from universities, national institutions, and companies within the industrial sector.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Misbar team's winning project centers on an integrated artificial intelligence system designed to automate the inspection of solar panel defects during production. By employing multispectral imaging technologies and analyzing data from production lines, the system achieves an inspection accuracy of 96.4 percent. This advancement enhances inspection efficiency and speed by more than 67 percent, while significantly reducing operational costs by over SAR800,000 annually and saving more than 400 working days each year.

This achievement underscores the technical and engineering proficiency of the Islamic University's students, demonstrating their capability to implement advanced AI solutions to address real-world industrial challenges. Additionally, it reflects the university's dedication to empowering national talent and fostering innovation, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
