KFSHRC and Servier Saudi Arabia Partner to Address Rare Diseases

Riyadh: King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Servier Saudi Arabia Trading Company to collaborate on scientific and clinical fields related to rare diseases, such as gliomas. These conditions necessitate further research and clinical efforts in the Kingdom and the region, as they affect patients during active stages of life, impacting their quality of life and treatment journey.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the MoU was signed at the hospital's headquarters in Riyadh and outlines a framework for cooperation in areas of mutual interest. This includes supporting the development of specialized knowledge on gliomas and related cancers in the Kingdom, as well as exploring opportunities for insights from clinical practice and potential areas for innovation in digital health.

The agreement aims to bolster research initiatives, explore digital health innovation, and enhance scientific exchange and medical education. This will be facilitated through conferences, seminars, workshops, and related educational activities. Additionally, the MoU includes initiatives to support awareness and capacity-building in precision medicine and related genome testing.

KFSHRC has achieved significant recognition, ranking first in the Middle East and North Africa and 15th globally in the 2025 list of the world's top 250 academic healthcare institutions. It was also named the most valuable healthcare brand in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East by Brand Finance 2025 and featured in Newsweek's 2025 list of the World's Best Hospitals, as well as the 2026 lists of the World's Best Smart Hospitals and the World's Best Specialized Hospitals.
