Riyadh: The final rounds of the 46th King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorizing, Reciting, and Interpreting the Holy Quran, organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, continued today, with 33 contestants from 28 countries participating in the second day of the competition.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the judging committees for the boys' and girls' categories listened to recitations from 17 male contestants at the Grand Mosque and 16 female contestants at the competition venue during morning and evening sessions. Over the first two days, the committees heard a total of 66 contestants representing more than 40 countries.
The final rounds will continue until next Thursday, with contestants evaluated by a select group of international judges specializing in Quranic sciences, recitations, and Tajweed. An electronic judging system is being used to enhance the accuracy of evaluation and ensure fairness and transparency across the various competition categories.
This year's competition features 334 male and female contestants representing 133 countries, competing in five categories, including memorization of the entire Holy Quran with the seven canonical recitations according to the Shatibiyyah method.
