Riyadh: King Abdulaziz University concluded the First Conference of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Saudi Universities, held over two days and attended by over 7,000 participants from government, academic, and private sectors.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the conference featured 21 dialogue sessions and 16 workshops, with over 105 expert speakers sharing insights on the latest trends in innovation and the future of entrepreneurship in Saudi Arabia. An accompanying exhibition showcased 40 scientific posters and 25 research abstracts, highlighting the excellence of national talent and research.
Several agreements were signed between universities and various government and private organizations to strengthen research partnerships, promote technology transfer, and foster a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.
At the conclusion of the conference, King Abdulaziz University recommended the activation of innovation and applied research centers at universities to drive technology transfer and develop creative solutions to national challenges. It also proposed the establishment of annual awards for innovation and entrepreneurship to encourage excellence, competitiveness, and a culture of creativity among students and faculty.
The university emphasized the need to integrate entrepreneurial and creative thinking into academic curricula through courses and initiatives designed to enhance students' innovation and entrepreneurial skills. It also called for increased investment in education and applied research to empower national talent and contribute to building a knowledge-based economy and diversifying national income sources.
