King Salman Park Completes Construction of MSE Walls

Riyadh: The King Salman Park Foundation announced the park's completion of the MSE (mechanically stabilized earth) retaining walls, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing development of one of the world's largest urban parks.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the foundation stated that the retaining walls extend for 17 kilometers and utilize 122,500 tons of locally sourced stones from the city of Riyadh. This development underscores the foundation's commitment to integrating local materials into the project, enhancing both the park's sustainability and regional identity.

The retaining wall highlights the progress the King Salman Park Foundation development project has achieved as well as its role in stabilizing the soil and shaping the park's landscape, which features valleys, hills, and plateaus inspired by the Najd region. This structural accomplishment not only supports the park's aesthetic design but also ensures the safety and integrity of its diverse terrains.

Director of Projects Eng. Ahmed Al-Barrak explained that the completion of the MSE walls represents a fundamental step in shaping the park's features, and they extend beneath the terrain to maintain ground stability and enhance the site's natural aesthetics. This phase of the project is crucial for the park's overall development, providing a stable foundation for future constructions and landscaping efforts within the expansive park area.
