Riyadh: The Kingdom's badminton championship, featuring over 100 male and female players from 26 clubs, began yesterday in Riyadh and will run until August 29. According to Saudi Press Agency, the championship includes both singles and doubles competitions, following a knockout system. The preliminary rounds were held on the first day, with the quarter-finals and semi-finals scheduled for the second day. The final matches and the awards ceremony will take place on Friday. The tournament is part of the Saudi Badminton Federation's efforts to discover and develop new talent, expand the sport's base, and prepare future generations of players to represent the Kingdom in international competitions.
