Kingdom’s Efforts in Promoting Quranic Values and Moderation Lauded at Sri Lanka Event

Colombo: The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's pioneering efforts in serving the Holy Quran and promoting the values of moderation and tolerance. The commendation was made on the sidelines of the third Holy Quran Memorization Competition in Sri Lanka, organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance from January 11 to 13, in cooperation with the Sri Lankan Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the assembly stated that the competition reflects the Kingdom's continued commitment to supporting mosques and Holy Quran memorization programs worldwide. It noted the strong turnout, with approximately 2,600 male and female participants, of whom 200 qualified for the final rounds that began today, demonstrating the deep interest of Sri Lankan youth in the Holy Quran and its sciences.

WAMY stressed that the significance of the competition extends beyond its competitive aspect, as it contributes to strengthening the values of moderation and tolerance and spreading the balanced teachings of Islam among younger generations. This message, it noted, is deeply embedded in the Kingdom's international programs and initiatives.

The praise coincided with widespread appreciation from Islamic institutions and circles in Sri Lanka, which highlighted the key role played by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance in the success of the event. They affirmed that such initiatives help connect young people with the Holy Quran, promote moderate thinking, and provide tangible service to the Muslim community in Sri Lanka.

The assembly concluded by reaffirming its ongoing efforts to serve the Holy Quran through specialized programs, including support for memorization circles, the organization of Quranic competitions, the training of teachers and preachers, and the implementation of educational initiatives aimed at promoting moderation and strengthening Islamic identity among youth in various countries.
