Al-Masilah:Al-Mahra The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has launched the fourth phase of the "Food to Resilience (FuTuRe)" project in Al-Masilah District, Al-Mahra Governorate, Yemen. This phase of the project, conducted in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Benevolence Coalition for Humanitarian Relief, aims to enhance local infrastructure and agricultural practices.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the fourth phase includes several initiatives such as rehabilitating the fish landing center in Rakhut and setting up an ice production unit, which are expected to benefit over 600 fishermen. Additionally, the project will restore approximately 3,000 meters of irrigation canals, reclaim 10 hectares of farmland, rehabilitate two water wells, and install five solar-powered irrigation systems covering 28 hectares. Farmers will also be trained in climate-smart agricultural practices.

The project aims to bolster food security and support vulnerable families by developing productive assets across agriculture, fisheries, and water sectors, alongside providing conditional cash assistance. Fadl Al-Duhaimi, Director-General of Al-Masilah District, commended KSrelief and WFP for their support of the district's agricultural and fisheries sectors, noting the positive impact of previous project phases.

On the sidelines of the workshop, district officials, along with KSrelief team members and representatives of agricultural and fisheries associations, visited the project sites. The initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts, through KSrelief, to support Yemen and strengthen food security with the assistance of specialized UN agencies.
