Riyadh: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's (KSrelief) Masam Project for Clearing Landmines in Yemen successfully removed 1,786 mines from various parts of the country during the third week of July 2026. This effort focused on enhancing civilian safety and ensuring that the Yemeni people can live in dignity and security.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the total number of mines removed included 70 anti-tank mines, 23 anti-personnel mines, 1,688 unexploded ordnance items, and five explosive devices. Since the beginning of July, the project has cleared 4,286 mines, while the overall number of mines removed since the project's inception has reached 575,411. These mines, indiscriminately planted across Yemen, have posed significant threats to civilians, including children, women, and the elderly.
Through its humanitarian arm, KSrelief, Saudi Arabia continues to lead efforts in demining Yemeni territory under the Masam Project. This ongoing mission aims to alleviate the dangers faced by Yemeni civilians and help restore a sense of normalcy and safety in their daily lives.
