Riyadh: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's (KSrelief) Masam Project for Clearing Landmines in Yemen successfully removed 1,448 mines from various parts of the country during the last week of July. The operation included the clearance of 17 anti-personnel mines, 83 anti-tank mines, 1,310 unexploded ordnance items, and 38 explosive devices.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the total number of mines removed throughout July amounted to 7,101. Since the Masam Project's inception, a cumulative total of 578,226 mines have been cleared, demonstrating the project's ongoing commitment to ensuring safety in Yemen.
The indiscriminate planting of mines across Yemen has posed significant threats to civilians, affecting children, women, and the elderly, and spreading fear among local communities. By removing these hazards, KSrelief aims to enhance civilian safety and support the Yemeni population in living with dignity and security.
