Riyadh: The Local Content and Government Procurement Authority (LCGPA) has signed three agreements with private-sector companies at the Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit 2026 to support the localization of biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreements cover local production of three biopharmaceuticals: semaglutide, aflibercept, and ustekinumab. They also provide for the transfer of knowledge, expertise, and advanced technologies to Saudi Arabia.
LCGPA spokesperson Abdulrahman Al-Sagheer highlighted that the agreements are expected to contribute an estimated SAR4.4 billion to GDP. The initiative is also projected to create more than 800 jobs, supporting national capabilities, strengthening local supply chains, and developing specialized industries in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
