‘Madinah Bus’ Enhances Hajj Season Transport Services

Madinah: Madinah's public transportation system has seen enhanced shuttle services during the 1447 AH Hajj season through the 'Madinah Bus' project, aimed at facilitating the movement of pilgrims and visitors between key locations, residential neighborhoods, and religious sites. The initiative keeps pace with the operational intensity in the central area and around historical mosques during the season.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the project operates a fleet of 177 buses serving 15 main routes, in addition to 455 primary and secondary bus stops distributed across various neighborhoods and major destinations. The network enhances connectivity across Madinah and facilitates access to religious and service sites for pilgrims and visitors.

The routes connect several neighborhoods and major facilities to the Prophet's Mosque, including routes connecting Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport with the central area and the Haramain High Speed Railway station with Miqat Dhu Al-Hulayfah, along with routes reaching Quba Mosque, Jabal Ayr, Al-Aqoul neighborhood, Al Oyoun Oasis, industrial cities, and numerous residential districts across Madinah.

Route 400, leading to Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport, operates around the clock to serve those traveling to and from the Prophet's Mosque and the central area. Buses also operate around the clock to transport pilgrims and visitors to and from the Prophet's Mosque and Quba Mosque, contributing to greater mobility efficiency and easier movement during the Hajj season.

These routes enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion on roads surrounding the central area, as well as reduce environmental pollution caused by vehicle emissions by providing public transportation options that decrease reliance on private vehicles and support environmental sustainability and quality of life.
