Madinah Honey Production Surpasses 100 Tons in 2026

Madinah: The beekeeping and honey production sector in Madinah Region has recorded significant growth, with local honey production exceeding 100 tons across the region and its governorates during the current period of 2026.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the sector is considered one of the promising industries supporting environmental sustainability and sustainable agricultural development in the region. Its growth has been driven by specialized programs and initiatives implemented by relevant authorities and associations to improve production systems and train and qualify national professionals. More than 1,400 certified beekeepers are currently active in the sector, operating over 154,000 beehives.

Efforts to develop the sector and enhance its efficiency included implementing four specialized training courses that benefited 270 trainees as part of qualification and development programs. Additional initiatives supported mangrove honey production, improved sorting, packaging, and marketing processes, and provided small-scale beekeepers with breeding and production tools. These measures contributed to improving the quality of local honey products and increasing efficiency in the sector.
