Makkah Taxi Offers High-Tech Safety for Pilgrims and Residents

Makkah: The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites has launched Makkah Taxi, a modern transportation service that represents a qualitative leap toward a smart and sustainable public transport system in Makkah.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the vehicles integrate technological intelligence and sustainability, operating on hybrid and electric systems. This aligns with the city's future aspirations and enhances the experience for both residents and visitors.

The service was officially launched on January 13, 2025, and is being deployed in phases across 47 locations in Makkah. Operating 24/7, it focuses on main stations and the Haram area to ensure easy access.

To enhance safety and reliability, all Makkah Taxi vehicles meet the latest global specifications, featuring in-vehicle surveillance cameras, passenger-counting sensors, an emergency button for rapid response, and a dedicated call center. The vehicles are also equipped with front and rear information screens that provide multilingual descriptions of destinations and landmarks.
