Riyadh: The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in collaboration with the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, has announced that the midday outdoor work ban for private sector establishments will be implemented from June 15 to September 15, 2026. This ban will be enforced daily between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to safeguard workers from the adverse effects of sun exposure during the hottest part of the day.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry reported that compliance with the ban reached 94% in 2025, indicating a significant rise in employer awareness regarding the importance of adhering to preventive measures to ensure the health and safety of workers. This compliance rate mirrors the growing commitment within the private sector to protect employees from occupational hazards related to excessive heat and sun exposure.
The ministry has proactively published guides and instructions on its website to assist employers and safety specialists in understanding the protective requirements. These resources aim to promote best practices that mitigate occupational injuries and illnesses linked to sun exposure, thereby enhancing the overall safety culture within the workplace.
In its ongoing effort to ensure compliance, the ministry affirmed its commitment to continued oversight and awareness initiatives in collaboration with relevant entities. It also urged the public to report any violations of the ban through the unified number 19911 or via the ministry's smartphone application, highlighting the importance of collective responsibility in safeguarding worker welfare.
