Moderate to Heavy Thunderstorms Expected to Cause Flash Floods in Several Saudi Regions

Jeddah: Moderate to heavy thunderstorms are anticipated to result in flash floods in several regions of Saudi Arabia, including Jazan, Aseer, Al-Baha, Makkah, Madinah, Hail, Qassim, and Riyadh. Light to moderate rain showers are expected to affect parts of the Eastern and Najran regions, accompanied by gusty, dust-stirring winds that will also impact Northern Borders, Al-Jouf, and Tabuk regions.

According to Saudi Press Agency, winds over the Red Sea are forecasted to be northwesterly to northerly, with speeds ranging from 20-55 km/h in the northern and central parts, and 15-30 km/h in the southern part. Wave heights are expected to vary from half a meter to over two and a half meters, making the sea conditions range from calm to choppy.

In the Arabian Gulf, the winds will also be northwesterly to northerly, at speeds of 15-35 km/h. The wave heights in this region are predicted to range from half a meter to one and a half meters, with the sea expected to remain relatively calm.
