NCM Conducts ‘Rasd 11’ Exercise to Enhance Readiness for Ramadan Season

Jeddah: The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) today conducted the 'Rasd 11' exercise at its headquarters in Jeddah Governorate, with the participation of 47 representatives from 25 government entities from Makkah and Madinah regions. The exercise aimed to test the detailed emergency plan for the upcoming Ramadan season of 1447 AH. According to Saudi Press Agency, the exercise was carried out as a culmination of a preparatory workshop recently completed by NCM, reflecting its ongoing efforts to raise readiness in handling weather phenomena and to strengthen integration and joint coordination with relevant authorities in designing and planning the exercise to ensure optimal preparedness for the season. The activity relied on simulation using the latest technologies within a virtual environment that replicates a real weather situation affecting the holy sites and Madinah. It highlighted NCM's role within the emergency plan, tested the readiness of communication channels, and ensured the timely transmission of reports and early warnings to support decision-making and enhance the safety of lives and property. The exercise concluded with several recommendations, most notably stressing the importance of periodically testing the compatibility of communication channels and their alternatives to ensure uninterrupted delivery of warnings to beneficiaries, and continuing to maintain the highest levels of preparedness and readiness for the Ramadan season.
