Riyadh: The World Summit on the Information Society Prizes 2026 (WSIS) has announced that several Saudi projects have been nominated for this year's awards, including nine distinctive projects from the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA).
According to Saudi Press Agency, the nominated projects include the AI Service Provider Accreditation project, known as the AI Ethics Incentive Badges, which aims to encourage entities to adopt ethical practices in using AI technologies. The projects also include the National AI Index and the National Open Data Platform.
The nominations also feature the multilingual Data and AI Glossary, which provides a unified reference in Arabic, English, and French, and the AI-powered early breast cancer detection program, which supports early diagnosis and improves the efficiency of medical procedures.
The projects also encompass Nafath, the national digital identity platform, in partnership with the Ministry of Interior; the AI Principles in Media document, in partnership with the Ministry of Media; the Generative AI Accelerator (GAIA); and Tahseen, which uses AI to digitally restore and enhance Saudi historical media.
