Istanbul: Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha called for urgent international intervention to protect civilians from ongoing Israeli aggression and the continuing genocide against the Palestinian people. In his address today at the opening of the 40th ministerial session of the OIC Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) in Istanbul, Taha underscored the committee's critical role in fostering economic cooperation among member states. According to Saudi Press Agency, Taha reviewed a range of OIC initiatives aimed at bolstering social and economic collaboration to address developmental challenges within the member states. He highlighted the substantial progress in trade among member countries and stressed the importance of effectively implementing trade programs and projects to meet the goal of achieving 25% intra-OIC trade by 2025. Moreover, Taha emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation in the food and agriculture sectors, primarily to support rural communities in the least developed OIC countries. He reiterated the importance of increased collaboration and synergy among all OIC member states and institutions to fulfill the organization's founding mission and objectives.
