Pilgrims Celebrate First Day of Tashreeq in Mina

Mina: Pilgrims to the Sacred House of Allah, on Saturday the 11th of Dhul-Hijjah, welcomed the first day of Tashreeq, also known as "Yawm al-Qarr." They are on the plain of Mina, full of joy and gratitude to Allah Almighty for the blessings He has bestowed upon them in performing the Hajj rituals.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the "Yawm al-Qarr" is named for the practice of pilgrims staying in Mina on this day to settle and rest. This follows the performance of the rituals of the Day of Sacrifice, which include stoning the Jamarat, shaving the head, slaughtering the sacrificial animal for those who have a blood sacrifice, and performing Tawaf al-Ifadah. It is one of the days of great virtue, as it was proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The greatest days in the sight of Allah - the Blessed and Exalted - are the Day of Sacrifice, then the Day of Qarr."

On the Day of Qarr, pilgrims throw stones at the three Jamarat, starting with the smallest, then the middle, and finally Jamarat Al-Aqabah, after having thrown stones at Jamarat Al-Aqabah the day before. Pilgrims spend the nights of the 11th, 12th, and 13th in Mina, or two nights for those who wish to hasten their departure, in fulfillment of the Almighty's words: "And remember Allah during the appointed days. But whoever hastens on in two days - there is no sin upon him; and whoever stays behind - there is no sin upon him - for him who fears Allah. And fear Allah and know that to Him you will be gathered."

The pilgrims enjoy an atmosphere of faith, surrounded by comfort, reassurance, and tranquility. In their camps, they spend time praising Allah, glorifying Allah, reciting the Quran, and supplicating and beseeching Allah the Almighty to accept their rituals.
