Planetary Trio to Grace Saudi Skies in Early June 2026

Saudi arabia: The skies above Saudi Arabia and the Arab world will witness a celestial display in early June 2026, as Venus and Jupiter draw closer together in the western horizon after sunset in a scene that grows more spectacular each night, culminating in a very close conjunction on June 8 and 9.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Jeddah Astronomy Society (JAS) Director Majed Abu Zahra explained that this type of astronomical phenomenon is known as a planetary conjunction, occurring when celestial bodies appear close together in the sky from an observer's perspective on Earth, though the actual distances between them in space are vast.

He added that the celestial display will not be limited to two planets, as Mercury will gradually appear in the twilight sky in the coming days, joining Venus and Jupiter to form a relatively rare planetary trio adorning the western horizon after sunset.

Observers are advised to choose a location away from light pollution and begin watching 20 to 40 minutes after sunset, when the sky is darker, while the planets remain visible above the horizon.
