Riyadh: Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Charitable Foundation and Honorary President of the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water, Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, has approved the winners for the 12th edition of the prestigious prize scheduled for 2026. This approval follows a comprehensive process of adjudication and scientific evaluation, with the edition having received a total of 275 nominations from 69 countries around the globe.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the prize consists of five distinct categories: the Creativity Prize, Surface Water Prize, Groundwater Prize, Alternative Water Resources Prize, and the Water Management and Protection Prize. Each category aims to recognize and reward significant contributions to the field of water research and innovation.
The prize operates under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. This support underscores the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's dedication to fostering scientific research and innovation, particularly in addressing pressing global water challenges. Established in 2002 by the late Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the prize continues to uphold its mission of encouraging groundbreaking work in water-related fields.
