Qassim Peach Harvest Flourishes amid Expansion of Seasonal Fruit Cultivation

Riyadh: The Qassim Region is reinforcing its status as the Kingdom's 'food basket' with a successful harvest of high-quality seasonal peaches. This year's harvest is marked by abundant production, with individual trees yielding between 30 and 50 kilograms. The fruit has reached local markets to meet strong consumer demand for fresh, locally grown produce prized for its taste and nutritional value.

According to Saudi Press Agency, farmer Mohammed Al-Huwaymili noted that the region's climate, combined with modern irrigation and meticulous management, has led to this year's exceptional harvest. After testing 12 varieties in a pilot phase, one has proven particularly successful. Peach trees are noted for being water-efficient due to their deciduous nature, though they require specific pruning and fertilization to thrive.

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Qassim continues to support this expansion through awareness programs and field visits. By promoting modern technologies and water conservation, the ministry aims to improve irrigation efficiency and enhance agricultural sustainability. These efforts are designed to bolster food security and stimulate the local economy by creating seasonal jobs in harvesting and marketing.
