Rare Green Comet Lemmon Passes Over Saudi Arabia’s Northern Borders

Riyadh: The skies over Northern Borders Region witnessed a rare astronomical phenomenon yesterday as Comet Lemmon (C/2025 A6) passed over the region's northwestern horizon.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Adnan Khalifa, a member of the local space and astronomy club, stated that the comet was observed from outside the city of Arar. He noted that the phenomenon provides a rare opportunity for astronomy enthusiasts to contemplate the beauty of natural comets, especially since comets of this type are visible only once every few centuries.

He explained that the comet's name, "Lemmon," is not related to its color or shape, but rather refers to the Mount Lemmon Survey astronomical project that discovered it in early 2025.
