Riyadh: The Roads General Authority (RGA) has unveiled a package of modern technologies being introduced as part of the sixth season of the distinguished safe roads campaign, which aims to enhance safety and maintenance levels across the road network in all regions of the Kingdom through precise surveying operations and comprehensive assessments in line with the highest international standards.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority explained that the campaign, launched by Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser, has introduced an advanced control room that monitors surveying and evaluation activities in the field in real time. The control room enables the analysis of big data and the rapid direction of treatment and maintenance teams, ensuring high operational efficiency and quality outcomes.
As part of efforts to improve monitoring accuracy, the authority has also deployed a mobile digital imaging survey unit dedicated to accurately capturing non-pavement road elements, including traffic signs, road markings, fences, and lighting poles. This preserves the urban appearance and enhances road user safety.
In addition, the new technologies include a mobile paint reflectivity measurement system, which evaluates the clarity of road markings and their effectiveness for night visibility and under various weather conditions, without affecting traffic flow or requiring lane closures.
