Makkah:King Abdullah Medical City (KAMC), part of the Makkah Health Cluster, has achieved a significant milestone by completing 30 successful robotic cardiac surgeries, demonstrating progress in advanced minimally invasive cardiac care.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the cardiac surgical team at KAMC marked this achievement by performing three high-complexity robotic procedures within a 48-hour timeframe. These surgeries included treating a patient with multivessel coronary artery disease and a critical 99% stenosis in the Left Anterior Descending (LAD) artery. Another case involved a robotic-assisted mitral valve replacement using a mechanical prosthesis. Additionally, the team conducted a robotic-assisted coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) on a patient suffering from an acute myocardial infarction complicated by heart failure.
Performing these complex robotic procedures in such a short period highlights KAMC's clinical readiness and the coordinated efforts of its cardiac surgery team, cardiac anesthesia, intensive care unit, specialized nursing, rehabilitation, and support services.
This accomplishment aligns with KAMC's strategy to integrate cutting-edge surgical technologies and further develop robotic-assisted cardiac procedures, enhancing the quality and safety of specialized healthcare services in Makkah.
