Riyadh: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has issued a Royal Order appointing Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Fawzan bin Abdullah Al-Fawzan as the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This appointment includes his roles as Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars and President of the General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta, with the rank of minister.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the decision follows a review of the relevant laws, Royal Decrees, and Orders, and is based on the recommendation submitted by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Sheikh Al-Fawzan's appointment is seen as a significant development in the religious leadership of the Kingdom.
