Saudi Arabia and Kenya Ink Agreement on Domestic Worker Recruitment

Riyadh: The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development signed today a new agreement with Kenya's Ministry of Labour and Social Protection to regulate the recruitment of domestic workers from Kenya to Saudi Arabia. The agreement was signed in Riyadh by Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Labor Dr. Abdullah Abuthnain on behalf of the Kingdom, and Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection Dr. Alfred Mutua.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the signing ceremony in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and Kenya's Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Dr. Musalia Mudavadi. The event took place on the sidelines of the inaugural meeting of the Saudi-Kenyan Political Consultations Committee.

The agreement aims to establish the necessary mechanisms for the effective and regulated recruitment of domestic workers from Kenya to the Kingdom, while safeguarding the rights of both employers and workers and regulating the contractual relationship between them. It also seeks to modernize and strengthen the framework for cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Kenya in the recruitment of domestic workers.
