Islamabad: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan reaffirmed their efforts to strengthen cooperation in agriculture and food security, expand investment opportunities, and increase bilateral trade as part of their strategic partnership.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the two countries expressed a shared interest in expanding economic and investment ties across sectors, with a focus on agriculture, food security, and improving the efficiency of irrigation and water systems.
The discussions took place during an official visit to Pakistan by Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley, who led a high-level delegation to explore opportunities for greater cooperation in agriculture and food security, improve irrigation and water management, and support investment opportunities aimed at boosting trade between the two countries.
During the visit, Alfadley met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss bilateral cooperation in agriculture and food security, as well as ways to expand investment across these sectors. The meeting also focused on promising investment opportunities in agriculture and food security and on strengthening the countries' economic partnership.
Alfadley also joined discussions on the Saudi-Pakistani Agriculture and Food Strategic Plan, with the participation of Pakistan's ministers for national food security and research and commerce, as well as representatives of the provincial governments.
He also took part in the Saudi-Pakistani Agri-Business Forum, attended by the Pakistani ministers of finance and commerce and representatives of the private sector. Discussions focused on ways to strengthen investment partnerships across the agriculture and food sectors.
The visit underscores the two countries' efforts to deepen their bilateral ties and expand economic and investment cooperation.
