Doha: Assistant Minister of Culture Rakan Altouq met with Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of the Qatar Museums Board of Trustees, on the sidelines of Art Basel Qatar 2026. The meeting focused on strengthening cultural cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Altouq expressed congratulations to the Qatari side for the successful execution of the event and extended wishes for continued prosperity to Qatar's government and its people. The discussions emphasized cultural relations between the two nations, with a focus on increasing participation in cultural activities and events hosted in both countries.
The dialogue also included discussions on collaboration for the upcoming second edition of the Islamic Arts Biennale, scheduled to be held in Jeddah in January 2025. This event will feature a selection of artifacts and artworks borrowed from Qatari museums and libraries, demonstrating the deepening cultural exchange between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
