Saudi Embassy in Jordan Celebrates ‘Saudi Green’ Initiative Day

Amman, The embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Jordan organized an event today to celebrate the "Saudi Green" initiative. The event was held under the patronage of the Jordanian Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Khaled Hanifat, and was attended by several officials and specialists from the agricultural and environmental sectors, as well as Arab ambassadors. Saudi Ambassador to Jordan Nayef bin Bandar Al-Sudairi explained that the "Saudi Green" initiative was launched by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to reduce carbon emissions by 278 million tons annually by 2030. The reduction is a fundamental pillar in the fight against climate change. The initiative aims to plant 10 billion trees, rehabilitate 40 million hectares of land, and restore natural green spaces. The Kingdom has launched 77 initiatives to support the "Saudi Green" initiative in achieving its goals and creating positive change in the long term . Additionally, these initiatives pave the way towards carbon neutrality by 2060. The Jordanian minister of agriculture stated that the "Saudi Green" initiative seeks to achieve three main goals: reducing emissions, afforestation, and protecting the land. He added that over 60 initiatives are currently being implemented to contribute to achieving these goals, which represent significant investments in the green economy. Source: Saudi Press Agency
